Learning materials created by JPCOAR (Japan Consortium for Open Access Repository)

Design and practice of research data management services, 2nd ed.

https://jpcoar.repo.nii.ac.jp/records/607 (Japanese version only)

Created by the JPCOAR Research Data Working Group. It aims to equip university librarians, URAs, technical staff, and other research support personnel with methods for designing and implementing research data management services along with the research process of the researchers. Research Data Management for Researchers

https://jpcoar.repo.nii.ac.jp/records/294 (Japanese version only)

Created by the JPCOAR Research Data Working Group. This is a collection of learning materials prepared for researchers affiliated with universities and research institutions. It is divided into 12 thematic sections for different research data management scenarios, and is intended for 1) researchers themselves to gain the necessary knowledge, and 2) research supporters to provide research data management services by processing the learning materials in a form that meets the research environment and needs of their respective institutions. Data Management Plan (DMP) Consultation

What is a Data Management Plan (DMP)?

A data management plan (“DMP”) is a plan that defines the handling of research data in a research project. Specifically, it describes the type and format of data, access and sharing policies, and data storage methods, etc.

Internationally, many funding agencies require the submission of a DMP when applying for research grants. In Japan, the submission of a DMP is scheduled to become mandatory for all research categories in the Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research from FY2024.
The Division of Research Data Service can assist you in creating a DMP. Please feel free to contact us.

Data Publication Consultation

The Division of Research Data Service, in cooperation with the Kyushu University Library, provides the following support for the release of research data.

  • Providing a repository for the release of research data
  • Advice to researchers in deciding whether and how to release their data to the public
  • Support for metadata creation and data processing for the release of research data

Please feel free to contact us.

Data publishing on QIR

Kyushu University Institutional Repository (QIR) can release research data free of charge. In consultation with the data provider, we will examine the data release method, create metadata, and assign a DataCite DOI.
For more information, please check this page.

Introduction to other data repositories

Data repositories include institutional repositories as well as domain-specific and general-purpose repositories. If there is a data repository already commonly used in your research field, it is an appropriate option.

Sites where you can find data repositories

  • re3data: A site where you can search data repositories. You can also list by field, content type, and country.
  • Data repositories: Data repositories by field of study

Representative data repositories

  • Zenodo (general-purpose repository)
  • figshare (general-purpose repository)
  • GitHub (program code, design data, etc.)
